Day Trips England Food out

Winchester Day Out

Winchester is one of my favourite places to visit and this summer, me and Tom have had quite a few days out here. I love the mix of city and nature and the buildings in the high street remind me of Harry Potter which looks so cool. We usually have a day out in Winchester on a Saturday because of the markets and the busyness really adds to the atmosphere. Every third Sunday of the month they have an Art and Design fair which I’m really keen to check out soon!

A lovely place to walk or relax on a bench is alongside the river which takes you round the Cathedral and back to the high street so we always take a stroll when were here.

Street Food

Anytime I’m in a place with markets I love to try the street food for lunch and Winchester has some amazing food stalls. Our favourite is the ‘Ciabatta man’ but unfortunately he wasn’t there, so today we thought we’d try noodles and sit by the cathedral which was nice as it started clouding up a little by lunch so the warm food tasted great.

Time for Tea

I haven’t been very fussed on trying many other cafes as I like this one so much – Alexander’s of Winchester is just off the high street and has a huge selection of different teas (I still always go for the traditional breakfast tea) with really good brownies.

The Hambledon – probably my favourite shop in Winchester.

Pizza & Cider?

The Stable is a fairly new restaurant open in Winchester which serves the tastiest cider I’ve ever tried – you can even get 5 different 1/3 pint ciders for £7.50 which I would have done if I could handle more than half a pint as I barely drink.
